FIFA World Cup Semifinal · AT&T Stadium (Dallas Stadium), Arlington · July 14, 2026
North Texas hosted its biggest match of the tournament, and Spain delivered a controlled 2–0 win over France to reach the World Cup final.
The breakthrough came midway through the first half. Referee Ivan Barton awarded a penalty for Lucas Digne’s challenge on Lamine Yamal, and Mikel Oyarzabal calmly beat goalkeeper Mike Maignan from the spot. France didn’t put a shot on target in the first half, and lost defender William Saliba to a back injury.
Pedro Porro sealed it in the second half with a one-two with Dani Olmo, finishing off the return pass. Spain kept a star-studded French attack, including Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, quiet all night. “We knew that to counter their strengths was key,” Porro said afterward, per Al Jazeera.
Five days later, Spain finished the job at MetLife Stadium, beating Argentina 1–0 in extra time on a Ferran Torres goal to win its second World Cup title.
Arlington’s World Cup: AT&T Stadium hosted nine matches, more than any other venue in the tournament, from the group stage through the semifinal.
