Prescott Breaks Romo’s Record as Cowboys Rout Commanders, 37–20

Dak Prescott made franchise history in the Cowboys’ home opener, throwing four touchdown passes to pass Tony Romo for the most in team history as Dallas beat Washington 37–20 and evened its record at 1–1.

Prescott was nearly flawless, completing 26 of 31 passes for 279 yards. CeeDee Lamb caught 8 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns, a 3-yarder in the first quarter and a 24-yarder to finish off the scoring late in the fourth. Tight end Jake Ferguson added two more touchdown catches, from 10 and 12 yards. Kicker Brandon Aubrey contributed three field goals, including a 60-yarder in the fourth quarter.

The Dallas defense made two key plays before halftime. Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble deep in Washington territory, setting up a short Cowboys touchdown drive, and the defense later stopped Washington at the goal line. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels left the game late in the second quarter with a left elbow injury, and Marcus Mariota finished the game.
