Night of Firsts in Arlington: Lawrence Breaks Through, Brown Wins 250 East Opener

Monster Energy AMA Supercross, Round 7 · AT&T Stadium, Arlington · February 21, 2026

Supercross made its annual stop in North Texas for Military Appreciation Night, and the evening produced two first-time winners.

450SX: Lawrence finally gets his win

Hunter Lawrence arrived in Arlington leading the championship without a win to show for it, after finishing second four times in the first six rounds. He left with his first premier-class victory.

Cooper Webb took the holeshot, but Ken Roczen took the lead on the opening lap, with Lawrence slotting into third. Eli Tomac started 11th and climbed to fourth within the first couple of laps, setting up a four-rider fight at the front.

Lawrence moved into second when Webb bobbled, then spent much of the race pressuring Roczen. With about six minutes left, he pulled alongside in the whoops, was briefly held up by a lapped rider, and completed the pass moments later. Tomac then charged from fourth to second, forcing Webb off the track in the process. Lawrence answered a late push from Tomac and won by 2.8 seconds, with Webb third and Roczen fourth.

The win came in Lawrence’s 26th premier-class start, in the same stadium where he won his first 250 race in 2021. He was the fifth different winner in seven rounds. “It’s pretty cool racing with the sport’s legends,” Lawrence said afterward, per Feld Motor Sports. He left Texas with a four-point lead over Tomac, with Webb 16 back and Roczen 18 back.

250SX East: Brown’s comeback win

The Eastern Division opener was just as dramatic. Defending 250SMX champion Jo Shimoda, racing for the first time since neck and back surgery in November, grabbed the holeshot and built a lead of more than three seconds. Title favorite Cole Davies went down in the first turn, collecting several riders.

The race turned on a medical flag. Red lights required Shimoda to stop jumping until he was cleared, while Pierce Brown and Daxton Bennick went through the section at full speed, letting Brown close the gap and take the lead. Shimoda chased Brown for the rest of the race and made one final dive inside with under a minute left, but Brown held on to win by 2.4 seconds, with Bennick third. Shimoda said afterward the incident would be reviewed.

It was Brown’s first Supercross win in 37 starts, and it came a year after he crashed out of the lead at the 2025 East opener and fractured a vertebra, ending his season.
